Computer locked up yesterday, screen was flashing and computer would not respond to any of my efforts to unlock it. I was instructed by the screen message to call the Microsoft support at 855-236-0365. This company is Tekies Data Solution. While the did fix my computer, they didn't seem like a real legit company when I called their Web phone number. They charged me $ 499 to fix it, installed Norton Anti-Virus, and removed WebRoot my existing Anti-Virus program. Is this company a legit sub-contractor for Microsoft ? Have you heard of this Flashing Screen / Lock-Up before ? Did I get Scammed ?

Now too late but for the future:

"Remember that real error messages from Microsoft, or other big tech companies, never include phone numbers for you to call them.

If your screen suddenly fills with scary pop-ups you should immediately close your browser (try pressing ALT+F4 if you can't do it with your mouse). If you can’t close your browser try restarting your computer."
