Windows 10: Computer not registering any sound input.

Hi! I’ve been having this issue for months now. Had this computer for about a year? Roughly and for a while this wasnt an issue at all. I typically use headphones that can plug into the front Jack and originally the microphone/input audio worked just fine. Around March? of last year was when things became an issue. Around that time I had retired my original headset and moved over to a new pair, and those were also working just fine previously on this computer specifically. But one day I went over to the computer and it wasn’t registering any input audio at all. Ive troubleshooted, looked in

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

 

Overriding Sound Inputs

My sound inputs are being effected by 3 instances of Microsoft Register Server. These instances are setting the input levels to 0 and muting them. This is overriding all of the sound inputs on my computer. As a result I cannot use Skype, Wires-x, or any
program that requires a sound input. The 3 instances only appear on the volume setting control and not on the audio settings of any program. If they are disabled (by using task manager) they instantly reappear.
