Windows 10: Computer powers off when selecting sleep

Been experiencing issues where my desktop just shuts off when going into sleep mode. It happens whether I let the machine idle or even when I manually select sleep from the windows start menu. It seems like it completes the sleep prep process but then after a few seconds shuts off entirely. When waking up, I have an error in the eventviewer.The system power report shows that it experienced an abnormal shutdown and gives the following code in bugcheck:Name ValueBugcheckCode 0x7eBugcheckParameter1 0xffffffffc0000005BugcheckParameter2 0xfffff80468fc188cBugcheckParameter3 0xffffb181c56c6a08Bugchec

Can't power off or sleep the computer since upgrade to Windows 10

My computer settings were already set to shut down with the power button. Had to contact HP and have them reinstall a driver.

I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps:

• Click on Windows button and then go to Settings.
• Click on Power and sleep Option.
• Select Additional power settings.
• From the left corner select Choose what the power button does.
• Under power button settings when I press the power button select
  Shut Down.

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled.

I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.






I cannot get a large image, so will type

I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing.

I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode .

Any suggestions? Jim
