Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled. I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.

I cannot get a large image, so will type Default REG_SZ (value not set) ShowHibernate REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (0) ShowLockOption REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (1) ShowLockOption REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (1) I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing. I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode . Any suggestions? Jim

  3. Computer stopped going into sleep mode

    Hello, Kiran.

My computer is up to date and I didn't change any settings prior or after the update

I tried step one, but I haven't wait the time required for the computer to go into sleep mode. I did change the 30 minute wait to 10 minutes. So, I'll wait and see what happens

Having issues with computer going into "sleep mode" after 2-3 minutes even though the settings are set to "never"

    Hello Will,

As you mentioned you have put the settings to never, still the issue persists. I suggest you to run power troubleshooter. It automatically fix some common issues with Power Plans. The Power troubleshooter checks things like your computer's timeout
settings, which determine how long the computer waits before turning off the monitor display or entering sleep mode. Adjusting these settings can help you conserve power and extend your computer's battery life.

    • Press Windows key + W and type
      Troubleshooting.

    • Select Troubleshooting and click on
      System and Security.

    • Click on Power and follow the onscreen steps.
Sleep mode will be active when the computer crosses the limited time frame of inactivity which means the computer needs to be ideal for some time in order to go into sleep mode. Basically the point is computer will go to sleep mode even if there are
opened applications but are not active or performing any task.

Could you please check once the Hibernation settings under Power Options? Check if it set to be Active after a certain amount of time. If everything is fine within hibernation settings then I would suggest you to run the
powercfg -energy command in an admin command prompt. The command prompt will check the power plans on your computer and will generate a report. Once it has finished its task it will tell you where it had saved the output.

    • Press Windows key+ X and select
      Command Prompt (Admin)
      .

    • Type the following command.
    powercfg -energy and hit
    Enter.

Wait for the command to complete executing. Once it has finished its task, it will tell you where it had saved the output.
