Windows 10: Computer randomly started running slow

So my computer was running fine yesterday, i could play games, work on things, etc without the computer running slow. I leave it alone for a day and i come back today and i went to open a game and all of a sudden the FPS was horrendous, i went to go open something else to see if it was just the game and even stuff like files and my browser opened slowly. Task manager says i have nothing open in the background and everything i have on my computer seems to not take up a bunch of space since it was running fine before so i really dont understand

Computer run slow and Start menu not functioning

Before we proceed, I would ;like you to provide the information stated below:

• Did you make any changes to your PC prior to this issue?
• Does your computer run slow during startup?
• What is the exact issue you are facing with your Start Menu?
• Do you receive any error message with respect to the Start Menu?
• Can you provide the name of the registry tool that you are using?
• Do you have enough space in your c: drive?

For now, I suggest that you check which program is running in the background when the computer runs slow. To do so open Task Manager and check under Processes.

Also Run maintenance task which checks issues that might slow down your computer's performance, such as how many users are currently logged on to the computer and whether multiple programs are running at the same time.

• Press Windows + X on the keyboard.
• Select Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Click on Run maintenance task under System and Security.

As for the issue with the Start Menu, run System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.

a. Right click on the Start Menu, locate and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b. Type the following command, and then press
ENTER:

sfc /scannow

Try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform Clean boot to avoid any third party software conflict and check.

Disclaimer: Putting your system in
Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

(Applies to Windows 10 as well)

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Step 2: I suggest you to install all the pending updates after upgrade to Windows 10.

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Also, visit the computer manufacturer’s website and install the drivers being found.
