Computer Reset and Removed Most Apps and Settings

Good Morning,This morning my Dell PC computer would not wake up from sleep. I was clicking the monitor power button and the button of the CPU. It finally booted up and was having a system upgrade. I have lost many of my previous apps and browsers Firefox, Chrome and would like to remedy this and reset my computer to a previous version or date if possible.

remove game data from xbox game in windows 10

I appreciate your reply. It seems that the game progress was saved to your Xbox account associated on your computer that's why you can't play the game from the beginning. I recommend that you remove the account on your computer by performing the following
    steps:

    1. Press the Windows icon, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
    2. Select Accounts.
    3. Under Email & app accounts, click the Microsoft account, then click Remove.

I also suggest that you reset the Xbox app on your computer so that we could ensure that no account is linked to it. To get started, kindly follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
    2. Go to Apps.
    3. Under Apps & features, locate the Xbox app.
    4. Click the Xbox app, then select Advanced options.
    5. Click Reset.

Let us know if that works for you. We'd be glad to further assist you.

  3. Can I reinstall Windows and keep all the files, but reset the settings and remove all preinstalled apps?

    Hello Shiftadvance,

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

Using the reset and keep my files option removes he preinstalled apps and settings though the apps installed by your manufacturer may remain which will need to be uninstalled manually.

The option does provide a list for all the apps that are to be removed so you can try the option out and check which apps are being removed by clicking on "list of apps to be removed" link during the reset process. If the apps you want to remove are not on the list cancel the reset and then make and backup and go for a full reset.

I reset my computer to remove apps and settings but keep my files

    Hi Kaylin,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

As per the description I understand that you don't find applications and updates being installed previously after performing reset by keeping your files.

    • Do let us know what is the exact issue you are facing with installing the updates after resetting your PC?

I would like to inform that when you perform reset on your operating system by clicking on Keep my files, it works as below:

    • Reinstalls Windows 10 and keeps your personal files.

    • Removes apps and drivers you installed.

    • Removes changes you made to settings.

    • Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)

Hence, you will have to install all the updates, applications and change the settings according you wish to.

For more information, refer: Recovery options in Windows 10

Section: Reset your PC> Keep my files

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue, we will be happy to help you further.
