Windows 10: Computer screen turns black while gaming and requires me to flip psu to shut off.

Recently I can’t seem to play any games without an issue occurring. My screen will turn black on both monitors and all my connected devices turn off as well. My gpu fans are no longer spinning by my cpu is still running, and there is a cpu light white debug light on my msi motherboard. If I attempt to manually shutdown by holding my power button nothing happens, which means I need to flip my PSU switch instead to shut off my computer.At first it only happened in 1 game and assumed it was a psu problem and my gpu wasn’t getting enough power and shutting off, so I limited my gpu in msi afterburn

BSOD or Black Screen Requiring Hardshutdown


My pc is still running when it somehow crashes my monitor switches off to a black screen showing no signal pc requires hard shut down to turn off sometimes even flipping switch on powersupply for it to shut down. I have a verifier file to this post but im unsure if it shows the issue as the problem is not showing up as an event. the problem seems to be at random instead of being provoked I restored back to a windows update for 12/25/15 instead of before verifier to see if problem persists after a critical update was installed

 

Why does my computer keep shutting off when gaming?

PSU (Power Supply Unit) is a component, and it's responsible for the power supply to the computer. If your computer shuts down suddenly during gaming, you have to check the PSU; there could be a possible fault in the PSU.

Step 1. Try another PSU on your computer and see if that's working or not.

Step 2. Alternatively, if you have a multimeter/power supply tester available, you can check it with a multimeter/ power supply tester.

This is a quick and straightforward way to check PSU if it's faulty. If you find any fault in PSU, you need to change it, so in this way, your computer automatically shut down issue could be solved if it was due to PSU.

• From where are you trying to play the video games (downloaded/ from website)?
• If you are playing games from website which browser are you using?
• Were you able to see any error code/ error message when the game crashes?
• Are you able log-in to your computer?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ outdated display drivers.
