  1. Computer slowly died throughout the day. Ending in a black screen.

Hi windows10 pals. I was using my windows 10 Pc tower today and I started getting instances where it would completely freeze up, ctrl alt delete wouldn’t even work, I had to reboot my pc every time this happened. My hardware is listed here https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WwPRxG.

In response to these constant freezing I ran an automatic repair. The automatic repair went nowhere with windows saying it was unable to repair it. I relaunched my PC and checked for updates (I installed the latest windows updates a couple of days ago). However a few hours later I had mother seize up. I tried to ran chkdsk from the cmd and this god stuck at 21% at the verification stage, at this point the computer froze up again.

I decided to try to turn off the computer again. At this point I decided to unplug my audio interface (Asio drivers). The PC went straight to automatic repair. It got stuck on diagnosing device for a good 20mins so I lost patience and turned it off again. But after launching it just went to a black screen instead of booting (after selecting windows on the BIOS boot menu repeatedly).

If you guys have any suggestions that would be great. To go from a fast PC last week to one that doesn’t even launch after updating this week is a bit of a punch in the guts.

TLDR: After updating a few days ago windows 10 kept freezing and now won’t even boot

    Black Screen solveed definitively

I have this same issue. Windows 10 was installed and was working fine on my laptop and then one day, black screen without a cursor or anything. I can only power the unit off and on, but with nothing other than a black screen I can't do anything. Tried the "ctrl-password" step but nothing. Nothing on the keyboard has any effect, I can only do a hard power off/on.

The only thing I can think of, all had been working fine when my battery died. My laptop automatically shut down and went to blank (not black) screen. I plugged it in for a while to charge but ever since then, I can power on, I hear the harddrive spin and the fan comes on, but I never get anything other than a black screen. Did your problem start after a power issue?
