Computer stops working correctly after graphics drivers

I recently built this pc and for a while was using the integrated graphics without knowing, after i realized this i tried to access my gpu by using a different pcie port and downloading the drivers. What happens, though, after downloading the drivers whether manually or letting windows do this on its own, the pc stops functioning correctly. system apps like settings wont launch, i am unable to run apps as administrator, apps i download will not run, and the computer essentially stops functioning. i have no idea why this would be happening, and ive tried any solution you can think of. sfc scan,

    :)

  2. Graphics driver randomly stops working.

Sometimes my graphics driver will stop working. A restart will usually fix it, but it is inconvenient. This never happened until I installed a fresh Windows install onto my new SSD (Upgraded from HDD). Before that, I had no trouble. Currently using NVIDIA driver version 397.31. About to upgrade to 397.64 to see what happens.

    Symptoms:
    • Windows Ink Workspace Screen Sketch will be unavailable.
    • Some games will either not launch or have graphical errors
    • Online videos (YouTube, imgur, Reddit, etc.) will not work or display incorrectly.
    Specs:
    • i3-3220
    • GTX 1060 6GB
    • 8GB RAM

AMD graphics driver is not working, Windows has stopped it .

    Hi Suzan,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

The error message you are getting is probably due to some corruption in the Display driver files. I suggest you to try the steps provided in the below methods and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

We recommend you to download the drivers from the section manually select drivers, from this link :

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Go to the link under the section Manually select drivers put the graphics card information and select the Windows 10 32 bit or 64 bit .

Now uninstall the currently installed AMD card drivers an install the downloaded one.

Method 1 : Uninstall and reinstall the drivers from manufacturers website.

Sometimes even though the drivers are upto date there might be a some bugs/corruption with the drivers.

    Step 1:

Steps to uninstall the Graphics Card Drivers.

    1. “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    2. Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    3. Search for the Graphics Card from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers
    from the computer.

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Step 2: Manually Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website

Go to the Computer or Graphics Card manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the Graphics Card model and then install it by following the manufacturer/developers website.

If the issue still persist, refer the below method.
