    Computer totally not powering one minute and making beeps codes the next.


    My computer won,t power on with the hard drive and optical drive connected, however if I remove the drives and press power it on I get 3 long beeps and 2 shorts beeps. I tried resetting CMOS and reseating the RAM. The computer is a hp slimline 290-p0043w. I got it on april 2020 and it messed up november 2021. I came with windows 10, the I upgraded it to windows 11. After it messed up I got an custom made gaming windows 10 thats not compatible with windows 11. I kept the hp because I like to learn to repair computers I want it fixed by 2025 when support for windwos 10 ends.

    Computer Is Beeping - Is It the PSU?

    And the type of beeps. What you're hearing is a diagnostic code that's standardized. 3 long beeps, 3 short beeps, 1 short beep 4 long ones, etc all mean different things. If you give us the model of the motherboard we should be able to tell which of the beep code systems it uses.
