    Computer used to blue screen, now no display on startup


    I've got a client's Acer Aspire M3xxx Desktop. Came with Windows 7, now it's running Windows 10. She said it's been blue screening for a while, and she finally had me take a look at it when it wouldn't put out any video at all when it boots up. It doesn't beep on POST but apparently never did, so that doesn't help isolate the situation, either.

    I connected the hard drive to my workstation PC and tried to look at the latest event logs. Nothing out of the ordinary except for some avast updater errors and 4 warnings. The warnings said that there was a certain task that took unusually long (64 seconds, apparently) which was when it was booting up. It then said something about I/O. So my theory could be with the motherboard but I have no idea because what it's giving me is vague.

    Is there a better way to diagnose this? Or any theories as to what's happening?

    Startup blue screen error(s) can occur if a problem causes your PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. It could be due to the following:

    • Outdated device software drivers
    • Corrupted Windows update system files
    • Software/Security conflicts

    • Did you get any blue screen stop error codes?
    • Have you tried booting in Safe mode?

    • Did you get a STOP code?
    • Did you install any hardware or driver recently?
