    on a microsoft support page came up saying this computer is blocked and i have to call micosoft now. it has something about **** in http bar and i was no where near **** what to do now?

    i think me computer has a virus when i start it up there are no short cuts or task bar( thing with the start button) any suggestions on how to fix it? thanxs

    Then its not a virus, i thought its a little strange that a virus was still going in safe mode. But i dont know what to suggest it could be? Are you using the same pc to connect to the internet, just with a linux partition?

    Virus?

    its not a virus if you are using windows 2000 or windows NT so if this is what he is using then it is supposed to be there. if this is the case then you need to restore the default settings for this windows utility so it no longer turns off task manager and firefox.
    if he hasnt done anything to cause this sudden problem then you might have a virus that has changed settings which is causing windows kill.exe utility to keep you from accessing task manager so you cant see the virus is there to stop it.

    a virus will be copied when the file they are in is copied so things like movies and videos are places they hide in to get on your computer in the first place so it is much more likely to find a virus hiding in media files like a music or video file than something like a data file.
