Computer was still working during the repair, not at home. What is it?

    Howdy!

A buddy of mine gave me a computer the other day. I took it to PC-Doc to get Windows rebooted. Picked it up yesterday, plugged it in at home and then the Windows icon was rubbed off. Then I went back to PC-Doc today - he plugged it in, everything was running fine. Then I went home again - plugged it in and played the same game again. Greased after the Windows sign. Honestly, I don't connect more than a power cable, a keyboard and a HDMI cable - just like him. What could be the reason for that? Thanks for the help!

    :)

  2. Still not working

    Hi Brink,

I am a Systems Engineer (entry-Level) and I am having this issue. I have followed all the steps that were listed, even created a new user account. This is for a customer. When I followed the steps, before creating a new user, i kept changing the path to point to the correct place. The second time, and following, I ended up getting the 2 SID's, one with the .bak. Followed the steps to delete the regular one and rename the .bak. restarted and still signs in as a temp profile. So I ended up cfreating a new user and still get the same Temp profile issue. Could you suggest something? Thanks.

    Programs not working

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

Computer was still working during the repair, not at home. What is it?

transfer files between computers on a home network

I don't know why this is so hard to do but I would like to transfer files between a desktop PC running windows 10 pro and a laptop running windows 10 home. I would like to transfer files in both directions. Both computers are on the same home network and are connected wirelessly.

Could some one provide either specific step by step instructions on how to do this (I googled and found a countless list of instructions that don't work)

or a link to a reference.

    Thanks,

I don't know if this is possible but it would be nice to see the computer sending the desired file in the explorer file manager of the computer receiving the desired file and then under the computer see a list
    of shared files and folders.

Again, this seems like such a reasonable way of sharing files and folders. Shouldn't there be a simple way to do this?
