  1. Computer will not go to sleep automatically in ver 9926.

It is fitting that I should start this discussion on the new Win10 site. With the latest update to 9926, I finally got the sleep menu to show up (updating the graphics driver) but the computer will not automatically go to sleep at the appropriate time. The other versions worked. I doubt this will last as I expect more updates to fix this but so far, the usual suspects have been tried and it is non functioning.
The sleep button and the power button set to sleep work fine. So far, nothing has woken it up but I have a sneaky suspicion that Homegroup now wakes up the computer when another machine asks for its shared folders.

    :)

  2. Computer will not go into sleep mode automatically at the appropriate time interval

Please answer ALL of the following diagnostic questions by number, preferably without quoting my post:

    1. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?

    2. Did the computer come with Win10 preinstalled, did you do a clean install of Win10, or did you upgrade a Win7 computer or a Win8.1 computer [<=PICK ONE!] to Win10?

    3. Who manufactured the computer (e.g., Dell; HP; Acer; Lenovo; ASUS)?

    4. When (exact date) did you "re-install" Win10 and how did you do it?

    5. What problems were you having that you thought a "re-install" might resolve?

    6. Has a Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

    7. Have you ever run the Norton Removal Tool and/or the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool?

    8. What Version & OS Build of Windows 10 is currently installed?

    • Press & hold the Windows Key and press the R key. In the RUN dialog, type WINVER and press the Enter key.

Did you make sure all important drivers are installed: chipset, video and network? The chipset drivers often have power management features for your computer.

What is the make and model of your computer?

Computer will not go to sleep automatically in ver 9926.

Check the Device Manager and the properties of the Network Adapter to see if the Power Mgmt is set to wake the computer.

  5. Yep, gone through all of the device manager power management settings as part of the usual. Something is also waking the computer so that may be easier to fix than the issue I was having with Win8.1.

Did you disable "Allow wake timers" ?

Change your settings and test again.

Computer will not go to sleep automatically in ver 9926.

Another thing that can be involved is the srvnet process. If you use an Administrative command prompt, after the system wakes or if it won't go to sleep, run these two Powercfg commands.

    powercfg -lastwake
    powercfg -requests

Unplugging the network may also yield some different behavior.

    Oh, no, John, not again!!

My 9926 is sleeping. Got a scare, though, as mine didn't sleep an hour ago so I checked powercfg requests and it showed windows update holding it awake. Restarted and it slept. Did another update check and it downloaded a Defender file and after that it slept again. So, fingers crossed!

  11. EDIT: Powercfg -requests showed USB audio device was an issue. By playing with the Logitech webcam and headset mics, I managed to get the computer to sleep ONCE. Trying to find out what exactly was the issue, I started adding one thing at a time. Of course, it immediately would not go back to sleep...

Another EDIT. OK, I removed all of the Logitech drivers and that seemed to fixed the issue. I guess they need an update. But stay tuned, heh.

The fix for mine was unplugging my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick from the USB port.
It goes to sleep just fine now. Updating the driver to the latest version did not help. I had to actually unplug it. *Smile
