Windows 10: Computer will not go to sleep when Seagate Toolkit backup drive is running - Windows 11 -

Installed Seagate's toolkit backup recently on PC running Windows 11. Backup are set to daily with Mirror running. Toolkit Mirror will run constantly even if no changes on PC files. Even if it manages to finish, PS will not go into sleep mode unless Toolkit is shutdown. Has anyone experience the same and is there a viable solution? Toolkit version: unknown but installed 2 weeks ago and auto updated. can't find version on their UIPC: Windows 11 Much appreciated.

How do I unlock a Seagate Backup Plus device

To unlock a Seagate Backup Plus device, you need to use the Toolkit software that comes with the drive. You can download and install Toolkit from the Seagate website.

Once you have Toolkit installed, follow these steps:

• Connect the drive to your computer.
  
• On the Seagate Secure screen, click Unlock.
  
• At the prompt, enter your password and click Unlock.
  
• If you connect the device to a computer that does not have Toolkit installed, you can enter your password using the Unlock Drive app located on the drive.
  

If you forget your password, you can use a password reset key if you have set one up before. Otherwise, you will need to factory reset the drive, which will erase all data on it.

If you are still experiencing problems unlocking your Seagate Backup Plus device, I recommend referring to the user manual for the device or contacting Seagate Customer Support for further assistance.

Windows 10 Backup does not recognize Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB External Drive

I did a test on my own computer and also a virtual machine, it turns out that the File History Service seems does no matter to the Backup feature, for my computer, this service is stopped by default and I can see my external HDD in the Windows Backup drive
list.

So I'll suggest trying to update your Seagate HDD's driver and update Windows 10 to the latest.

 

Seagate Toolkit not recognized by Microsoft Windows Based Script Host

In the first instance, I'd uninstall Seagate Toolkit, delete all the files in C:\WIndows\Temp, reboot the computer, then reinstall Toolkit from a freshly-downloaded copy of the installer. (When you select all the files in C:\Windows\Temp and press Delete, skip any files that will not delete.)
