Windows 10: Computer will play tone when I adjust the volume but no sound with any other media, any...

I had Windows 11 crash 2 days ago and have had audio issues since. The PC won't always detect the audio device when it starts up. Currently I am connected to a Bluetooth Soundbar. I get a tone when I adjust the volume but no other sound. I have a HDMI cable connecting the PC to my TV and it will detect the TV and again I get a volume adjustment tone but no other sound. I have reinstalled and updated all drivers since the crash trying to fix the issue. Any ideas on how to fix this?Thank you

"Ding" sound (e.g. from adjusting volume) no longer plays

When adjusting volume on Windows, the system will play a "ding" sound to help you gauge the current volume. That sound no longer plays on my machine.

What I've done:

• Tried various output devices (speakers, headerphones, monitor speakers, etc.)
• Updated mobo and sound card drivers
• Played the .wav files (C:\Windows\media) in a media player to ensure the files are not corrupted

Methods that SHOULD play the sound but don't:

• Adjust volume
• {Windows_key} (search) --> type "sound" --> {Enter} --> "Sounds" tab --> Scroll to "Default Beep" --> click "Test"
• Running some batch file that echoes 0x007
• `echo ^G`

Can Touch Tone dialing tone volume be adjusted?

On my iPhone, when I dial numbers after I am in a call (conference code access codes, phone tree menus, etc.), the tone plays very quietly on my end. However, on my WIndows Phone, the tone plays relatively loudly. I would also say that some of the tones
have very "sharp edges" that hurt my ears. If I happened to have had the volume turned up and my headphones in, it is definitely painful.

Is there any way to adjust the volume of the touch tones separate from the rest of the volumes? This is my greatest frustration with the Windows Phone.

 

Windows 10 sound error: Failed to play test tone and everything

Hi, I need some help with my sound on Windows 10. Everything is ok but I can’t hear any sound from my speakers or headphones. When I go to the Sound settings and try to play a test tone, it says “Failed to play test tone”. This error started yesterday after I updated Windows 10.

I have tried the following steps to fix it, but none of them worked:

• Restarted my computer several times.
  
• Checked the volume and mute settings on my computer and speakers.
  
• Plugged and unplugged my speakers and headphones.
  
• Ran the audio troubleshooter and followed its recommendations.
  
• Updated my audio drivers from the Device Manager.
  
• Changed the default sound format from the Sound properties.
  
• Disabled all audio enhancements from the Sound properties.
  

My audio device is Realtek High Definition Audio and my speakers are Logitech Z313. I don’t know what else to do. Can anyone please help me? Thank you in advance.
