Windows 10: Computer with windows 10 freezes

My computer's screen suddenly freezes to random colours. It was usually grey or dark blue. Some days ago it was fuchsia and then bright green. What is happening? After that, I haven't been able to get it to work, not even for a few minutes.
When I power the computer the screen stays dark, it doesn't open. This happened too often. I have to shut down the desktop by turning off the switch behind it for the power supply. It takes a lot of times of trying to open it to really manage to get the screen working. And then, windows 10 tries to fix it, but sometimes it also gets stuck on that. At the times it freezes and after I force it to close, if I try to start it again, the screen doesn't open.
Why is this all happening? Could it be the cable that's connecting the screen to the desktop? Could it be something in the system?
I managed to open it a few times. Firstly it froze at the lock screen. The other time I managed to write the password and it was okay but a few seconds later it froze again. I also think that something smells burnt from the desktop.
