  1. Computer won't boot - attempting to apply restore point.

My Windows 11 desktop computer will not boot. It goes into repair mode, but then can't repair. I've gotten an error regarding "Critical Process Died" when trying to reboot. I've gotten into the advanced tools section and attempted to apply an automatic restore point from a week ago, but can't select the c: drive to apply the restoration because the status on drive states that I must enable system protection on the drive. Any thoughts regarding how to roll back the system when I can't boot to windows?

    :)

Computer won't boot after attempting Windows 10 Update

    Hi,

To address your concern, we suggest that you download the
    Media creation tool
    to create an installation media.

Once you have an installation media, you can use it to restore the system from a system restore point. To do that, follow these steps:

    • Connect the recovery drive and turn on your PC.
    • On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot, and then select an option. If you don’t see the Choose your option screen, your PC might
not be set up to boot from a drive. Check your PC manufacturer’s website for info on how to change your PC’s boot order.
    • Restore from a system restore point by selecting Advanced Options > System Restore. This will remove recently installed apps, drivers, and updates that might be causing your PC problems,
but it won’t affect your personal files.

Let us know how it goes after performing the steps.

  3. System restore failed and now my computer won' t boot at all

    Hi Bjørn,

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    Method 1:

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up. If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the
piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

    Method 2:

Perform a Startup repair from Advance boot option

    • Boot your computer using a Windows 10 CD/ DVD or System Repair Disc.

    • Select the correct time and keyboard type.

    • Click on Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

    • Select Troubleshoot from the Choose an option screen.

    • Click on Advanced options in the Troubleshoot screen.

    • Click on Startup Repair from the Advanced Options screen.

    • Next, choose the operating system.

    • Windows 10 will look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

  4. Computer won't boot - attempting to apply restore point.

"Can´t access boot device" error on boot-up."

"Automatic diagnostics can´t fix" appears on second attempt. Third attempt brings up menu where I can do a system restore to a previous point. System restore works and the computer boots normal. Next day the same thing happens. Also the USB won´t recognize
flash drives just before the error shows up. I suspect that some update is causing the problem. I have tried blocked the installing of updates and the problem. My unit is a desktop with a MSI motherboard Pentium dual core E 5300 @ 2.66 GHZ Processor, 4 GHZ
    memory, 32 bit system.
