Windows 10: computer won't boot up or turn off after windows 10 reinstall

i am sending this question from my Acer Chromebook but the problem is with my desktop computer. It started freezing up and giving me the "0h snap"message. Finally i clicked send to microsoft each time it messed up on me. I then received a message telling me there was a problem with my windows 10 and Ineeded to reinstall the os. I clicked reinstall and it asked me if I wanted to save my files. I clicked yes because i had some important documents i wanted to save.Now it won't boot at all and it won't turn off unless i unplug it. I am prepared to buy a new computer this one is 11+ years oldbut am hoping there is a way to retrieve my docs and pictures. I am in my seventies and not at all familiar with computer lingo or workings. I don't know the address of my desktop. Thank you.

How to reinstall Windows 10 if my computers used the free upgrade from 7 and 8?

Will windows 10 still accept the license keys from 7 and 8 now if I reinstall my computer?

Does Microsoft keep a list of users who upgraded to Win 10 using their 7 and 8 keys so that when users need to reinstall windows 10 the old keys would work?

Do I need to call in Microsoft to ask them to activate my Windows 10 when I give them my win 7 keys?

Both computers are laptops. The windows 7 machine had the serial printed on the back, and I needed to enter that when I upgraded to 10. The windows 8 machine had the serial built in inside its boot system so I didn't need to enter the key when I upgraded to 10, but I did manage to write down the keys using a fetcher program.

 

Windows defender is turned off and won`t turn back on

Windows defender on windows 10 enterprise won`t turn on. This happened shortly after i updated it; when I try to turn it on it says:

This app has been turned off and it isn't monitoring your computer.

And right underneath it, it says:

If you are using another app for malicious and unwanted software use Security and Maintenance to check that app`s status.

Need for a response ASAP, thanks

Yesterday was reading on it. All of a sudden turned off and now it won´t turn on
