Windows 10: Computer won't shut down

Discus and support Computer won't shut down in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; I installed a new modem today, and got rid of the older one.     Computer won't shut down


    I installed a new modem today, and got rid of the older one. This went fine and I'm able to surf and have a private wifi. But, when I clicked "Shut down" from the popup menu, my computer appeared to restart. I had left my desk and then noticed a light was showing behind the power button. I turned on my monitor and the log in screen was showing. This has happened twice so far today.


    Also, whenever I pull out my desk to dust behind it, and when I installed a Wacom tablet, this jostles a rather loose power cord that came with my Dell computer, and I have to push it in until I hear a click or the computer won't start when I press the power button. So, I'm not sure if my problem is software or hardware related. How do I figure this out?
