Windows 10: Computer won't unmute headset.

This has been driving me nuts. I've been setting up a gently used HP envy - I've done everything. Factory reset, uninstall drivers, install them, disable them, re-enable them but the issue seems to stem that something in the computer says my microphone is muted. When it clearly isn't. While it does have a tab on the headset that can be muted, it is not. When I go into the settings, like to adjust the microphone levels like some sites have suggested - I physically cannot unmute the microphone array levels. It is permanently muted. Headset not working after mute/unmute


If you have the headset plugged in and mute it, it won't work after you unmute regardless if you unplugged and re-plug in the headset.
No issue with the speaker if you unplugged the headset.
You may have to adjust the volume to zero and up the volume again for it to work again.

 

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

  Did you connect your headset to any other device and check if the issue re-occurs?
  

I suggest you to set your headset as default and check.To do so, please follow the steps below:

• 
  Type sound in the search bar.
  
• 
  Right click on
  headset/microphone , click on default.
  

If issue persists,

As you said with other headset it is working fine,so,the issue might occur with your headset only.

In that case, I recommend you to contact the headset support.
