Computer won't wake up, then display adapter breaks

I've had a recurring issue where I will put my computer to sleep, but when I try to go back later, it won't wake up. It seems that the computer is running, as within I can see the fans spinning at full speed and its lights are on, but all screens stay dark. After a few minutes without progress, I force a shutdown by holding down the power button, which resolves that issue--but the display adapter Radeon RX 580 Series stops working. This prevents me from playing games I assume because of some relation between the graphics card and the display adapter; I'm not very tech-savvy so I'm not sure

    :)
