Windows 10: Computers on network cannot be accessed

We have 2 new laptops call them 1 and 2 and 2 old laptops call them 3 and 4. From laptops 1 and 2, we can access shared files on 3 or 4 and vice versa but laptop 1 and 2 cannot connect with each other. Obviously, all sharing permissions are set since the new and old can share with each other. The error message we get when we try to reach 1 from 2 or the reverse is that we don't have permission. We can see 1 and 2 as network computers in File Explorer. To make it even stranger, 2 can access a data file on 1 that was shared with it before this all started and 2 is able to work on that

One computer cannot access other network computers.


So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:

• Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
• Ran a bunch of network commands:
  • flushed DNS
  • registered dns
  • pinged and located the named computers successfully
• Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

• Are you working with computers connected to a domain?
• Did you make any changes on your computer prior to the issue?

In the meantime, we suggest following the steps below to troubleshoot Shared Folders in Windows 10:

• On the Cortana search box, type Troubleshoot
  and select the first result.
• Scroll down and click on Shared Folders.
• Click the Run the troubleshooter button.

Permission to access network
