    Hi community,I have just upgraded my Configuration Manager with the lastet update, 2503 and I am observing a problem when PXE booting new or existing devices for a reinstallation.I am using the latest ADK, and I have updated the winpe.wim files with the 2025-04 cumulative updates.What I am observing, is that I am now met with "This media is password protected" BUT I have not set any password on my single DP...It is not possible to start the task sequence even, because the password field can not be empty. This is unexpected behaviour, since I configured my task sequence to be deployed as requir

    PXE BOOT and Defrag

    Is it possible to PXE BOOT Defrag Windows XP Pro over the network? At work we have a TON of XP Pro machines we use and they are slow as a coffin in a grave due to fragmentation.
    The IT dept can not get to them as it is a 2-3 man crew. Is it possible to PXE Boot to initiate a defrag over the network to all the PCs? The management wont let them install other tools.

    PXE Boot configuration in WDS

    I would like to set up some computers as "Thin Clients" in that when they boot up they PXE boot to a VM that is set up in Kiosk mode. Is it possible to change the WDS settings to point the PXE booting computers to a VM instead of WDS/MDT?

    ADK 10: Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer

    I've just tried this and was rather surprised to find it created an install disk for me which actually installed Windows.

    I had to use the 'Production Media' option in the ICD to make the 'Compact OS' option appear, but when I copied the resultant files onto a VHD and pointed it at a VM with a completely blanked disk, it installed automatically up to the normal Setup screen where you choose your language/region.

    When I'd installed it, I could see that the apps I'd saved before (Firefox etc.) were there, and also some customisations I put into the ICD - for instance see the System screen below.

    The only thing I'm not sure about is how to check whether the Compact function worked.... Hmmm.
