Windows 10: Configure languages in Windows OSK in assigned access mode

Hello.I have a computer with Windows 10 Pro and a touch screen, which I would like it to run in kiosk mode for an interactive application. Yes, the steps are valid for Windows 10 as well, however you can also refer to the section “To set up assigned access in PC settings” in article:
Set up a single-app kiosk



As you mentioned that you are receiving: "Something went wrong” error message. This can be if your current Administrator account is corrupted. I would request you to enable hidden administrator account and then try to setup Assigned Access. Here
is how you can Enable Hidden administrator:

1. Open Command Prompt (search CMD on start menu) and run it as administrator.
   
2. Then type: net user administrator /active:yes
   
3. Close the Command Prompt.
   
4. Then Log off from this user account sign in the account which says
   Administrator.
   
5. Try to setup Assigned access mode.

How do I switch the keyboard layout to another language for the OSK (on screen keyboard) only?

I already saw that page when Googling this issue. It's outdated. Windows updates have since changed the process.

But I figured it out myself. If anyone else is stumped on how to do something as simple as changing the OSK language here is the exact process that works as of 10/20/2019.

The reason "ENG" is greyed out in the on-screen keyboard is because no other language is installed. Since there's no choices they don't let you click the button. Why they don't simply let people click "ENG" anyways and allow them to turn on different languages
in the OSK is beyond my comprehension. But here is how:

• Step 1) Start menu
• Step 2) Settings
• Step 3) "Time and Language"
• Step 4) "Language" on the left side
• Step 5) Under the "Preferred Language" section, click "add a preferred language". Disregard the poor choice of word they used. "Preferred" makes it sound like you want to change your default system-wide language. It won't as long as you
  don't set it to your "display language" later.
• Step 6) A list of all the languages will open up. From here you can scroll or search for the desired language. Click to highlight the language. Then click "next".
• Step 7) You will be given several options including whether you want to set as your "display language". Don't check that box unless you want the whole system to be displayed in that language. Make your selections then click "install".
  
• Step 8) Once more than one language is installed on your system, a new icon will appear on the task bar. If your default language is English it will say "ENG". This confirms other languages are successfully installed and can be used in the on-screen keyboard.
• Step 9) Open the on-screen keyboard.
• Step 10) The "ENG" button is no longer greyed out and you can now change the OSK to any language that was installed. Done!

Keep in mind a future Windows update is guaranteed to alter this process. So, if you're reading this in the future, the process may have changed.

Windows is a lot like Wal-Mart Supercenter - they gotta switch up the shelves every few months to confuse buyers and keep em in the store longer.
