    Conflicting Update Message (12/10/2017)

Today (12/10/2017) there was an OS update for Win 10: 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4051963)

After the almost hour long download/install process I went to check the notification status (All Settings/Update & Security/View Installed Update History). Message says "Failed to install". According to All Settings/System/About the OS installed is version 16299.98. I did an additional Restart to see if that would make any difference and it did not.

Furthermore, when I "Check for Updates" I get the message "Your device is up to date." And everything seems to be working normally.

So, I am confused about the "Failed to install" message. Any advice for this? Thanks.

    :)

  3. KB4041676 fails to install at 100% complete

The KB4041676 cumulative update is failing at 100% just like the previous update KB4038788. No error code is displayed or provided in the Settings/Windows Update/Update History screen. I reviewed the CBPersist
log for the update and found that an error 80070057
occurred in Phase 31 which did not terminate the install until 100% complete. The text of the relevant portions of the log are listed below. This phase appears to deal with the ntprint.dll file in some way.

I've seen postings regarding this error that say the SoftwareDistribution folder needs to be renamed to .OLD and running Update again. I've tried deleting the contents of the SW distribution folder and running a manual
update which also failed. Basically none of the suggestions provided in the many postings on KB4038788 and KB4041676 have worked.

I need an expert to determine what is wrong in Phase 31.

    Thanks in advance,

    Conflicting Update Message (12/10/2017)

I wouldn't worry too much, the way windows updates are set up, they are designed to show the last 5 notifications for updates and that's it, it may be already installed and shows as a different name dependent on your hardware, for example:

    Conflicting Update Message (12/10/2017) [IMG]

As you can see, the update was already installed on my system 2 days prior to the failed update.
