  1. Confuse partitioning organization after fresh installing on new SSD

Today I've bought myself an SSD, to speed up things... *Smile
D:\ (Disk 1) is the Hard Disk (500GB), C:\ (Disk 0) is the Solid State Drive (120GB)
    (Both GPT/UEFI)

Well, I decided to clean install Windows 10 on it, but the partitions look very odd.

I don't know if I'm safe to wipe the Disk 1 completely, or rearrange my files on it so I can use it as a data drive only...
I fear that it might crash my whole installation. *Confused
I'm also totally lost on what Windows has done. lol

EDIT: I've had a previous installation on the Hard Disk (Disk 1\D:\)

    :)

  2. Reinstalling windows 10 (with partition format)

    Hello,

Before I'm gonna format my windows partition I thought I'd ask here:

I'm gonna replace my old laptop with a new one, but I'll be keeping the SSD from it (i'll install it in the new laptop). The thing is, I want to format the windows partition to start fresh (and keep the other partition intact)

Do I need to also format the other two partitions: System Reserved and Recovery Partition (created by Windows) ?

  3. Windows 10 post upgrade, Wants to custom install OS from HDD to SSD.

    Hi all,

Short question : How to do custom fresh install Win10 to new SSD drive after upgrade?

Recently upgraded to Win10. During upgrading, no option available to where I want to install the OS. Upgrade completed, done reset to wipe out everything, no selection was available as to where I want to install my Win10 OS.

Currently running OS on 320G HDD.

Planning to migrate by cloning or preferably do a fresh install to the 240G SSD.

Been searching for hours on how to migrate OS or fresh install.

Cloning - Disk cloned, wire swapped and ori HDD drive disconnected. Booted up, blue screen asking for boot file.

Reason I want to do a fresh install is because I may have done installation for Win7 wrongly and boot file may have stored in another partition which is invisible on my computer but showing in computer management and it's got 160mb of file in it.

Posting this as I can not find related experience, disk cloning does not work for me and I would prefer a fresh install directly to the new SSD.

    Thanks,

    Johnson W.

No, if you wipe disk 1. Windows on disk 0 won't boot since the EFI System containing boot code is on disk 1.
What you should have done was to install Windows with disk 0 connected only.

  5. Yeah, I've just found out a way to fix... I was really worried with it.
I guess my knowledge wasn't enough. I wasn't warned about it nor did I do any research *Huh .

    I found a solution though....
(On 10 Forums (mods will hate me for that I know, useless thread).
I did some research before though and I was just unable to find anything about it [perhaps excitement with my new drive])
