  1. Connect a device directly to your computer via Ethernet

Up until now, I've had an Ethernet connected throttle quadrant used for flight simulation connected to my PC via a Gbit switch. The other day, I decided to start using my wireless connection for my PC instead to get rid of the long Ethernet cable I've had going through half of the apartment. I then figured maybe I could get rid of the switch as well and simply connect the TQ directly to the now free Ethernet port on my PC. This seems to work just fine which is great news.

One side-effect I've noticed though is how I need to always disable and then enable the network card in my PC the TQ is connected to in order to have it connect successfully. Another option is to always keep the TQ switched ON. The problem seems to be, when I start my PC with the TQ switched OFF, looking at the status of the network card in my PC, it says the Ethernet cable is disconnected. Which makes sense to me as long as the TQ is switched OFF. Since that means nothing is found at the other end of the network cable.

However, when switching the TQ ON, I was hoping/thinking that would send some form of signal to the network card in my PC to let it know the TQ is now up and running. This doesn't work though. I keep seeing the message how the Ethernet cable is not connected for the network card. Until I disable and then reenable the network card in Windows. Seconds later, the TQ connects normally.

This isn't a big deal really. Quite fast to disable/enable the network card whenever I'm about to use the CFY TQ. Would have been nice though if there was a way to avoid this extra step.

Was thinking if there is maybe some network setting in Windows for the network card that would allow this. Where I need to tell Windows how the network card is now used for a direct connection to the TQ. Rather than serving as a "normal" network card being connected to a wireless router like I had it setup before.

Anyone in here knows what might cause this and if it's possible to fix it somehow?

    :)

  3. Ethernet Connection

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

We would like to ask additional information that will help us in resolving the issue.

    • What kind of computer are you using? Is it a desktop or a laptop?
    • Did you make any recent changes to your computer?
    • Have you tried troubleshooting the issue by yourself? If yes, what were the steps you have taken so far?

I would suggest you to try the following and check:

    • Verify that the cable connects the modem to the wall jack is connected securely.
    • Verify that the cable connects the computer to the modem is attached securely at both ends.
    • Restart the router/modem.

Follow the steps and let us know if it helps.

Cannot connect to ethernet no valid ip configuration

We appreciate the information you've provided. We'd like to confirm the results after following the steps on the link provided on our previous post.

Meanwhile, to isolate your concern, we suggest that you check the following:

    • If the Ethernet port is clean.

    • If the end of RJ45 (Ethernet cord) is still intact.

    • If available, test the RJ45 (Ethernet cord) to your other device and check if issue persists.

We look forward to your reply so we can assist you further.
