Windows 10: Connecting an old monitor using vga to hdmi converter

    Connecting an old monitor using vga to hdmi converter


    I am trying connect an old Dell E173FP monitor to my new Acer laptop operating Windows 10. I have a VGA to HDMI converter which I am using for this.


    It connects ok but my issue is that it is appearing as a widescreen monitor in Display settings so when I maximise a window not everything is displayed correctly on the screen. This is not a problem on my old laptop which had a VGA connection and picks up the correct size of the monitor.


    Does anybody have any suggestions about how to fix this problem with the display?

    Computer will not connect to Toshiba Monitor using HDMI to VGA

    Just ordered HDMI to VGA converter. Hope this help. Last resort, or I just wait until the tv/monitor goes out and purchase a new one. It is an old tv/monitor with VGA input for PC and audio in jack, just now noticed it.

    Cannot connect samsung laptop to dell monitor using HDMI to VGA adapter

    We would like to suggest to contact your manufacturer of your monitor to ask for confirmation. Ask them if the monitor accepts HDMI input and output. Some laptops will not still convert video outputs, even if you use a VGA converter to HDMI.

    Hello Everyone,

    Having problems connecting my computer HP pavilion desktop 590 to a Toshiba TV using HDMI to VGA connection. Any suggestions. Appears computer not recognizing the TV/monitor. Using the VGA on the TV that states PC connection.
