Windows 10: Connecting pc to tv

Hello. I'm trying to use my tv as a monitor for my pc using HDMI but when I go to 'customize display' there is only one choice - "1". Another display isn't detected.

I have HDMI 1 selected on my tv & the lead plugged in to HDMI 1. I'm using a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop

Bug windows 10 : Connect TV via HDMI port

Hi all

I have a PC Dell ( Tablet Dell Venue Pro 11 7139 ) which has a mini HDMI port. ( VGA Intel Family 4000)

I have connected successfully a display monitor Samsung sycnmaster via a cable mini HDMI - HDMI.

But I try to connect my TV (a Panasonic TV and a Soy Bravia TV) , I saw that PC recognized these TVs.

From TV, I selected HDMI input to show in Monitor PC to TV, but PC can't connect TV and TV disappears in PC also I have pressed Windows + P to select mode , but PC can't connect TV.

Please help me to connect TV or fix this bug connect PC to TV via HDMI

PE,

If you connected with your windows 7 machine, you obviously know how to hook them up. If you're plugged in via hdmi on both ends and see nothing on your TV, then press windows key+p and see if it's on "pc screen only". If so, just click duplicate or extend.
If still nothing, go to settings, system, display, and make sure it can see your TV (shows two displays in the box). If not, you may have a bad hdmi-out plug on your HP.

 

Have you tried restarting with the cable plugged in and the TV powered on? I've had this issue using older computers with HDMI TVs before. If so, you could try unplugging your monitor to see if the TV becomes the primary display. Also make sure your resolution is at or below the max that the TV can handle.

most of these problems are due to faulty cable, tried a new one?

heavily suggest you try to borrow another cable - theres quite a differencies of the quality on making cables so brand news can be just dead.

also, i checked the specs of your optiplex 745, theres no HDMI out per se, so do you have some external card that you use with that setup?

also, check the back of your tv and make sure youre connected your HDMI to the port that says PC or PC/DVI for example. the more you support us with the devices by their specs the more we could help

There is actually a HDMI port. Most my pc the specs can be seen here: XPS 8900 specifications - General Hardware - Desktop - Dell Community

The back of my TV has HDMI 1 & HDMI 2 plus a monitor input

With my TV set, I have to turn on "Game mode" for computer to notice TV.

ok, so theres no specific HDMI-port for PC use - doesnt really matter, it wouldve only had the correct specs for your PC but you can should be still able to show it on your pc. TV.

now, what @CountMike said - check the TV menu for your input to see if theres gaming mode or something similar for that certain HDMI-input. if not you might have to wait another HDMI-cable to test the system.
