  1. Connecting peripherals to USB hub vs. USB ports on computer

Which peripherals should be connected to a POWERED USB 3.0 hub connected to a desktop and which peripherals should be connected directly to the desktop USB ports so as to not negatively affect performance?

Motherboard is ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E that has 2 USB 3.1, 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the back. I don't have enough ports on the back of the computer for all of my peripherals.

    Peripherals:

2x Monitors (Acer Predator XB271HU) -- USB 3.0 connectors. Should the Upstream (squarish USB plug end) USB connection that activates the USB ports on the side of the monitor need to plug into USB ports on the back of the computer or can they plug into a hub?

Printer (Dell C2660dn Color Laser Printer) -- Looks like USB 2.0 connectors. Can the printer be plugged into a hub?

Scanner (Epson Perfection V600) -- Looks like USB 2.0 connectors. Can the scanner be plugged into a hub?

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

Using multiple peripherals with a USB hub

You're spot on! I can't run my laptop cooling pad fans on a non-powered USB hub due to USB ports only giving out a very limited amount of power. Getting a powered USB hub would be awesome and probably fix your issues.

Now for that USB port I'm not sure how it'll run but it looks promising. Good luck!

Using multiple peripherals with a USB hub

    Hi,
I currently have a simple 4-port usb hub but problems begin to occur when using all 4 ports at once with peripherals such as mice/keyboard/xbox controller reciever
I assume this is due to power limitations. If so, and i were to purchase a powered usb hub, what would be a suitable voltage/ampere power adapter for using mainly gaming mice.
e.g. would Anker be okay? any suggestions would be appretiated.
    Thanks.

Connecting peripherals to USB hub vs. USB ports on computer

Does usb hub slowing down the USB port?

Thank you. My thought too. I am now rearrange the USB connection.

USB key for Ready boost now got direct USB port (not via USB hub port) to PC.

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Arto.
