  1. connecting to my NAS issues-network credentials problem

good morning. i have an issue with connecting to my NAS which I can not seem to correct. I am able to view the file names using File Explorer, but, when i try to open the files i run into a credentials road block. This issue has just popped up in the last two or three days. I'm using the NAS as a backup location but am unable to continue doing so, at the moment. I have included two screen shots. I have watched videos and read articles with instructions with no success. I do not know what password i should be using either. I'm using Win 11 version 23H2. I have disabled the password sha

  2. Network credentials

I have the same problem described above by Trippap. Why does Microsoft waste so much of the user's time by popping up that useless Enter Network Credentials dialog for a private, in-home network between connected computers? I have a 2-drive NAS and both HDDs are mapped and accessible. I've tried using the same user name and password for my NAS when I've set up my Windows Credentials for other PC's and I still can't access another networked PC. That dialog immediately pops-up. I've removed all of my Windows Credentials and want to start over with new credentials. Any suggestions from the community would be appreciated. Thanks.

    NAS "Enter network credentials"

Asustor NAS connected to Z490 desktop Win 11 Pro via ethernet.

Password protected sharing is turned Off in Advanced network settings>Advanced sharing settings.

When I try to access the NAS using File Explorer the Windows Security "Enter network credentials" dialogue box appears but will not accept the password for the NAS. The NAS can be accessed from my Win 11 Pro laptop.

I want to be able to access the NAS using File Explorer. Windows is up to date.

    Hi Sammy,

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
    manager.

    • Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
