Connecting via RDP to a Windows 10 computer causes remote to freeze

    Hello,

I have recently had the following issue:

Connecting to a Windows 10 Pro computer via Remote Desktop causes that same remote computer to completely freeze up.

RDP works fine for a couple of minutes before freezing up completely. Even local login on the computer is not working, mouse is unresponsive, so is the keyboard.

I was using RDP without any issues about 6 months ago, so this is a fairly recent issue.

Has anyone got a clue on what could be happening?

I can provide logs if necessary.

    Any idea welcome.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. RDP freezes remote

Win 10 laptop rdp freezes the remote desktop immediately upon connecting. Remote is running Windows 10 Pro. The desktop remains frozen until powered off and on. I believe no settings have been changed since it used to work properly. A different laptop
is able to rdp successfully into that desktop. Strangely, the laptop that is able to successfully rdp cannot see files on the remote when the homegroup icon is clicked--says the remote is currently unavailable, but the laptop that freezes the remote can see
and open files when the homegroup icon is clicked. When I google remote freezes I get info about Windows 7, and the "Virtual Agent" doesn't understand my question. Thanks for any help

  3. RDP not allowing remote connection

I had it working perfectly fine the other day but I logged into my server, removed a open port and both computer quit.

I run the computers with the firewall off, I see no point in them being on, it's a windows firewall a hacker will know how to get around so fire wall is OFF.

Ports are 9000 for server and 3390 for htpc

    ip:9000
    ip:3390

This does not work from a linux workstation using 'Remote Desktop Client'

It does not work from mac RDP
It does not work from windows RDP
And it does not work from my iphone.

I know it's enabled as I can RDP into the computers at my home (except htpc at the moment, I think that one needs restarted)

Ports are open, both tcp / udp ports are open using the internal server IP wich is MAC assigned by the router. Server - 10.0.1.2 - 9000
And same thing for the htpc - 10.0.1.8 - 3390

Besides the obvious of firewall, ports, and 'remote connection enabled' any ideas?

  4. Connecting via RDP to a Windows 10 computer causes remote to freeze

RDP connection to one remote computer with two different accounts

I use RDP to connect to a remote server. On Windows 7, I was able to save my usernames and passwords for the remote server in the RDP file itself, rather than via the credential manager. This was necessary, because the credential manager only allowed one
username+password to be saved for each remote computer, and I need to use several different login credentials for different aspects of the remote server.

I now have three computers running windows 10. On the ones which I upgraded from windows 7, the RDP files from windows 7 files still work. When I open them for editing, it still says "The credentials in the RDP file currently in use will be used to connect
    ...", see image.

The problem I have is that on my new Windows 10 computer, I can't get this behaviour. The credentials stored in an RDP file only work on the computer where the credentials were originally saved, so I can't just copy the RDP files from one computer to another.
When I open the RDP file for editing on the new Windows 10 computer, I can configure it to save credentials, but is always uses the Credentials Manager which still only allows one username+password for each remote server. Having saved credentials, on reopening
the RDP file for editing it says "Saved credentials will be used ...", see image, but all RDP files show the same username.

    How can I either:

    (1) Save credentials in the RDP file using the new Windows 10 computer, so that I can save more than a single username+password? Or

    (2) Configure the credentials manager to work with RDP in such a way that it can remember more than one username+password for a remote computer?

    Thanks, Paul
