Windows 10: Connection between laptop and wireless display adapter stopped working

I have been using a Dell laptop to connect to a tv using the MS wireless display adapter without any issues. However, as of last week the connection has stopped working. When I hit windows + K, the adapter shows in the available displays, but it will not connect. I have removed the adapter from the tv and reset it but nothing helps. We have a second identical laptop and there is no problem connecting to the tv with that laptop. Is there any reason why one is working but not the other? Thanks!

Windows Wireless Display Adapter-not connecting anymore

Hello Phillip,

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
   Action Center.
3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
   Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Issue with connecting Dual monitor with Wireless Display Adapter

I can understand the situation must be difficult for you when things do not work as they should. However, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. What is the make and model of the computer?
   
2. What is the model of the TV?
   

This issue can occur if there is pending firmware update or the issue with the drivers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and let us know about the results:

Method 2: Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

If method 1 doesn’t fix the issue, I would suggest you to follow all the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the Microsoft article on

Display Adaptersrefer the steps ‘Having trouble connecting your device to the adapter?’

Note: The above article contains steps regarding Firmware update.
Modifying BIOS settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS

Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter V2 Stopped working on Windows 10

Hi,

Couple of weeks ago my Dell Latitude E7270 running Windows 10 just stopped working with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter (connected to my my Samsung TV) which bought on Amazon just last month. After trying out the troubleshooting suggestions on Troubleshooting
Wireless Display Adapters - Microsoft with no success, I thought it was the adapter giving trouble, so blindly returned it to Amazon and bought another new one again just couple of days back. Nothing changed, I am still with the same problem with the
new Adapter as well.

Tried searching internet and found few forum answers pointing to Windows update break miracast display on Windows 10 etc., tried uninstalling/installing all possible drivers on my laptop (graphics, wifi, bios, etc). But the issue stays as is without any
change.

Steps and Symptoms:

1. Microsoft Wireless Adapter V2 connected to my Samsung TV hdmi port

2. Boot the laptop to Windows 10 and press Windows key + P

3. Choose "Connect to a wireless display" - it shows the wireless display adapter "MSDisplayAdapter_XX"

4. Select "MSDisplayAdapter_XX"

5. Both Laptop and TV starts showing "Connecting" to each other message

6. TV screen goes back to "Ready to connect"

7. Laptop stays with "Connecting" for a while and just goes back showing "MSDisplayAdapter_XX" with subtitle "Wireless Display"

This used to work flawlessly in the past till 2 weeks ago. The exact same issue I am seeing on my another Dell Latitude 7470 laptop as well. My Samsung S8 phone connects to the Wireless Display Adapter without any issues.

Is there a way to fix this? what made this stop working all of the sudden? The main reason I went for this costlier device (£48) is because it worked well with my laptop (I owned one a year back) otherwise there are £15 devices which works well with Android
phones. Now its not working on my laptop and doesn't serve any purpose.

Please suggest a solution.
