Windows 10: Connection to MS wireless display adapter failed because of missing PIN input field

Hello,i try to connect to a Microsoft wireless display adpter on a Sharp TV with a laptop Lenovo X280. Fresh after OS installtion i pressed WIN+K, entered the displayed PIN, and my laptop display was mirrored to the external Monitor as intended. After installing several updates i tried again, and the connection failed. The MS display adapter request a PIN, although i was previously connected to this device, so it should not ask for one. But on my laptop i don't get an input field to enter the pin, so after a while the connection fails.I don't know what the cause for this is, but maybe there

Hello, I wanted to use a security measure with the MS Display adapter. The Wireless Display adapter interface has an interface to input a password and also a PIN. However, when I create the connection I'm not prompted for a password or a PIN. Is there
a way to enable security on this device?

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
   Action Center.
3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
   Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

MS Wireless display adapter - wont connect

I have a MS Surface Book running Windows 10 and I bought a MS Wireless display adapter to connect to m Samsung Smart TV.

I plugged in the display adapter as per instructions and the connection was made immediately and my laptop now has the display adapter listed.

I was able to project from laptop to TV for a few minutes then it disconnected and will not reconnect.

Each time it tries, it briefly connects, I get the message saying there is a firmware update, but it does not stay connected long enough for me to run the update.

Its driving me mad.
