  1. Constant BSOD MS Surface Pro 7 Tablet

I started getting BSOD 20th June 2020 after I did a Win 10 update. This is on my MS Surface Pro 7 tablet, it did not affect my Win10 desktop. I am in Australia and purchased the Tablet direct from Microsoft in January. I ran the Win10 update on 22nd June and this did not solve it either. I read articles on the Community and rolled back both updates in Safe Mode, disconnected my back-up drive and did not use any USB sticks, checked for recent drivers and found none. Ran the Memory Diagnostic Tool several times - no issues. I tried reading Minidumps but this was Admin only and despite being the only user and Admin, I could not read or analyze.

Still having problems - 6th July I took it to our local computer consultancy. Picked it up 15th July; over a week on the bench, not running any software, with only the blue-toothed MS mouse & keyboard, it did not crash once not sure how they knew as it just restarts, they ran the Win10 updates and reviewed my written list of issues and said it was probably a warranty issue. They didn't charge me for the service.

Here's a link to my latest Minidump

I have some others that I could share

In my process of elimination, I found that MS Solitaire Collection would make my system crash 6 to 10 times an hour. I uninstalled and re-installed with no change. I have now uninstalled. I get crashes when playing MS Jigsaw or working on MS Edge, and MS Office Word / Excel - really annoying because documents don't save and I have to start again. I still get crashes, but they are less now I am using Firefox and Thunderbird. I suspected memory as Solitaire would return me to where I was 5 to 10 mins before the crash, as did MS Office.

Problems in addition to the BSOD errors were - reporting the Tablet had no blue-tooth therefore could not connect to keyboard & mouse, no WiFi to connect to printer, spurious pixels, Solitaire with blank cards, having to force power on, black screen with constant swirling blue circle had to force shutdown, Application error RuntimeBroker.exe, mouse and keyboard would freeze for seconds, then suddenly dump 20-30 typed characters, one re-start Windows didn't load correctly, audible clicks while speakers muted, Thunderbird.exe unable to start correctly Ox0000102, Start bar not working, Firefox tabs crash.

BSOD error messages from most common to least, but not all listed with any file names

Any help most appreciated, as I have done all I have found to do.

New to windows 8 - just got MS surface pro

You can install any WINDOWS program you want. That is the beauty of the surface pro... Of course you are limited by the specifications of the device itself.

MS Surface Keyboard Cover not recognized by MS Surface Pro 3

My Surface Pro 3 cover mysteriously stopped working (other USB keyboards work).

I’ve exhausted all of the steps from the Internet and am hoping for some advice here on what to try next.

A breakdown of the steps I've done to sometimes get it working

    • Leave Surface Pro 3 on about 2 hours on battery only.
    • Power on Surface Pro 3.
    • Working Keyboard.
    • Turn off Surface Pro 3 (or reboot)
    • Keyboard not working anymore
    • Another similar user here - Surface 3 type cover issue

Can anyone recommend any other troubleshooting steps? One of these steps seemed to work ok for others having this same problem.

Constant BSOD MS Surface Pro 7 Tablet

    Surface Pro 3

    Hi ChrisWaters3,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Could you please help me with the below information:

    1. Does the battery drain out, if the tablet is not connected to peripherals?

    2. Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type: winver in start menu and hit enter.)

I understand how something like this can try your patience. This issue is an indication of faulty drivers or incompatible driver.
However, I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: Check the drivers.

    Step1: Battery driver

    1. Press Windows andR
      key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
    3. Click on view on top > Select Show hidden devices.
    4. Expand the Batteries option from the list.
    5. Select the ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery> right click on the driver and click on
      Properties.
    6. Click on Driver tab > check if you have the option to
      Roll Back Driver.
    7. If yes, Roll back the driver or uninstall it and restart the computer.
Uninstalling the driver will be automatically installed after the system is restarted. Check if the issue is fixed.

    Step 2: Keyboard driver.

    1. In the Device manager, go to ‘Other devices’, you will find
      Unknown devices.
    2. Double tap on the unknown device > click on
Driver tab> click on update driver.
    3. Select browse my computer for driver software> Click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers
    4. Select keyboard, then click ‘Next.
    5. Select HID Keyboard device and click finish.

    Method 2: Run the toolkit.

Note: If your Surface is managed by your work or school, check with your organization's IT department before running the tool.

I would suggest you to run the toolkit provided by Microsoft on
    Fix common Surface
problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

If the above steps, doesn’t fix the issue. I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the article on
    Surface Pro 3 Battery
FAQ for the Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware update
    .

    Hope it helps.
