    Constant disk writes by NVIDIA process


    Hi,I've been noticing constant disk writing activity from NVDisplay.Container.exe after updating gpu driver to 471.68 30.0.14.7168. This process starts from a service "NVIDIA Display Container LS" which defaults to start automatically. After disabling the service the apropos disk activity stops, but the NVIDIA Control Panel is unusable.     Constant disk activity from "system" process

    Indeed it would be a good idea.

    So, excluding all the Kaspersky AV related writing done by system (which can be a lot but is not constant) , the most writing is done to these files by writes per second and total reads/writes:

    NTFS drive log
    NTFS MFT
    $Bitmap
    Logfiles/WMI/Netcore.etl

    The NTFS logs usually stay at the top of the list. This monitoring was done without a browser running in the background.

    Run CMD


    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

    Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

    with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

    You should first identify what the system process is writing to the disk.
    A good start would be using Resource Monitor:

    In this screenshot, the system process is the process that access the disk the most, and it is doing some pagination.
