Windows 10: Constant messages about needing to "Fix my account' at login

I have seen numerous posts relating to this annoying pop up message. I am getting it daily.


I have a personal Microsoft account to which my computer is linked. I can log into that with no problem I use the Authenticator on my phone

I also have a Work Office365 account with a completely different email address, which is functioning perfectly. So I really can't understand what the issue is.


When I log in, the error appears.

I click 'Fix it now'.

A window pops up with the rotating stars and quickly disappears again no message displayed. This repeats several times. Then it disappears and the error has apparently gone.

If I click 'Manage My Microsoft Account', Edge opens up and I can log in fine and everything is apparently OK.

If I select 'Access work or School' and then click my Account, I can log in fine and everything is apparently OK.


Troubleshooting

I have already:


1. Reverted to a Local Account sign in, removed my Microsoft account. Rebooted a couple of times. Re-linked my personal account.

Error message comes back.


2. I note that under 'Sync your settings' it tells me 'Sync is not available for your account. Contact your system administrator to resolve this.' Well that's me.... I don't know why, I have Edge on my iPhone and its logged into my personal account. This feature is not important to me but maybe is another clue to the issue.


3. I have seen references to a 'Microsoft Account Troubleshooter' that can be downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/downl...B-A23B-5C3A6B5974E3/microsoftaccounts.diagcab but that link doesn't work.

Microsoft Account login is not opening

• Are you able to login to the same account using web browser?
• What is the exact error message?

I suggest you to reset the Microsoft account password once and check if it helps.

You can't sign in to your Microsoft account

• Are you able to login with Microsoft account in web?
• What happens exactly when you try to login using Microsoft account?

I suggest you to login to Microsoft account through online login.live.com, if you are able to login to Microsoft account on web then you can reset the password and then try to login and check if the issue persists.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.
