Windows 10: Constraints in Modifying External SSD Partitions: Investigating Hardware and Software...

I am currently experiencing limitations in modifying the partitions on my external SSD, which is housed within a drive enclosure. Despite attempting to merge or reallocate existing partitions on the drive, I encounter an error indicating that such operations are not supported by the object. Even after attempting to unallocate and relocate the partitions, the options to combine or modify partitions become greyed out within the disk management software, rendering them inaccessible.This issue seems to persist despite efforts to manipulate the disk structure, suggesting potential constraints impos

External SSD

I have recently bought external SSD, I want to know what are the things i need to take care of before using my external SSD? Any tips and suggestions are welcome. Thank you for your support.

 

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
