Windows 10: contacts from people are not showing up in win 10 mail app

I have imported a .csv contact file to people online and linked it logged in to my win 10 mail app but the contacts are not showing up in my list.

Transfer Contacts from Windows Live Mail to Win 10 People app!

I've tried this, twice. The first time I got an error message saying that "something had gone wrong at our end" and the second time, I was told that "your address book already has all the contacts your are trying to import." Unfortunately, that isn't so: People shows only the three contacts I've added manually and although Mail seems to have access to about 20 odd contacts when I start a new email, I think they're all from recent email exchanges and certainly don't cover the 150 or so contacts I had in my LiveMail contacts list.

What's more, People doesn't show the contacts that Mail knows about! I take it that People should show all contacts that Mail suggests when I start typing in the "To" field.

Has anyone any ideas? Cheers...

 

Issue with People app


I'm running a clean install of Win 10, less than a week old, and I'm seeing some odd behaviour with the People app.

When I'm in Mail, I can see a contact's details by clicking on the "Open Contact" option from within the message. This opens the People app. So far so good.

However, this seems to be the only way I can access People. There's no obvious way to access it otherwise from mail, it's not listed in "All apps": also, when the People app is open, it has no icon in the taskbar - just an empty space where the icon should be (I can grab this anti-icon and move it around the taskbar).

Any suggestions welcome...

 

Mail (Win 10) has no people app

Actually, Mail has it's own contacts list too but it is not visible.

The People app doesn't work with my email provider so there is no contacts list for my email account and yet Mail knows who I sent mail to previously and therefor suggests those contacts when appropriate.
