Windows 10: Contents in the "Downloads" Folder

Greetings,Here is a question that still appears to go unanswered. When I download a program/ file and I delete it after using it for its purpose. Three months down the road, I decide that I would like to download that file/ program once again. Windows 10 & 11 tells me in my "Download" folder that I have downloaded these files/ programs once before. I have deleted all my Windows activity via the computer and entered my Microsoft Account via the website and performed the task manually. And yet, the information is still being retained. Could this be an indication that Microsoft is implementin

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Moved a folder from another drive and rename and it still shows as the old folder name in certain places

Hi Nick,

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior.

• Create a new folder name it as 'My Videos'.
• Now copy/cut and paste the contents which are in the folder "Videos", and delete the folder "Videos".
• Now check the behavior.

Download folder takes an age to load

Not sure if you have found your solution yet, but I was struggling with this particular issue since installation of Windows 10. A number of my folders took forever to sort by Date, size or anything except the standard Windows Explorer Display.
Luckily, there is an exact solution that works like a charm!!
Step 1: Open Explorer
Step 2: Go to the folder that you have issues with (but don't go into the folder)
Step 3: Right click on the folder, and select Properties
Step 4: Click on the "Customize" tab
Step 5: Under the "Optimize this folder for:" drop down, change this to "General Items"
Step 6: Tick the box that says include subfolders
Step 7: Click Apply and OK
Step 8: Done, move on to your next problem folder and repeat
