Windows 10: context menu - local app runs slow modifying file on unc drive

I have a small util that I use to "freeze" files on a fileserver, it re-arranges the bytes so that it can't be loaded /edited using Excel or Autocad, and will put them back in place when needed.I have set this up for fast access .. right clicking a file and choosing to run that util from the context menu on the chosen file. Additionally, a star wrapped TCL script is actually called first, as it will display TK popup warnings of overwrites, and then call the main util to do the scrambling unless aborted. Both the scrambling util and the TCL wrap that calls it reside on local computer in the pat

For File Explorer, how to get UNC pathname of folder in mapped Drive ?

Thanks, this is another workaround.

If File Explorer can show the UNC Path, end-user only need to copy the address bar instead of

1. requiring CMD skill and memory for the command
   
2. additional four steps to get UNC pathname of a file.
   
   1. open CMD
      
   2. type in net use
      
   3. copy Remote text
      
   4. add subfolder to Remote Text
      

Your suggestion is very useful in general but for my case need more labour than the one I posted with help from

Is it possible to minimize steps with your CMD option?

for example, open CMD in the subfolder instead and then type in some command to get UNC path of the subfolder?

There is a paid solution but I need approval from IT; which is unlikely because this is not commonly required except for communicating to Tech Support

Modify context menu

To modify the "Context Menu" you must have to modify the Registry of Windows.

To open it, just type regedit in the Cortana search bar. Right click on the regedit option and choose, "Open as administrator."

Alternately, you can press on the Windows key + R key, which opens the Run Dialog box. You can type regedit in this box and press Ok.
