Windows 10: Continuous loop on startup

Hi, Toshiba Satellite Laptop is in a continuous Loop on power up going from Toshiba logo to "Attempting to recover installation" to "restoring your previous version of Windows" to blank screen then back to the Toshiba logo.


I tried the F10 key but that seems to just pause the process. Tried the 3 times in succession power on/power off. I have looked at BIOS and the hard disk is where it should boot from.


How this came about was 3 times yesterday the Windows Update assistant came up with the "message your update is ready to install and will restart in 30 mins"


I looked on here and found it to delete the "update folder" found under c:/, which I did after stopping the task "Update assistant " running in task manager. But it still happened so I further found advice to uninstall the App "Windows update assistant" which I did. But later I still got the message that the update was ready to install.

So I stopped the task again, deleted the folder emptied the recycle bin and restarted as advised on here.

That's how I ended up in the loop, I guess it prepared my system to install Latest version of W10 but had no files to complete the installation ?

The original version was W1607 which was a conscious decision to leave alone with help of this community.


Can I get the recovery menu up somehow or even safe mode. I have no bootable USB (I did though put on USB a copy of the folder update before removing it from C:\

Windows 10 update continuous loop

I am having almost exactly the same problem and the issue is that it is impossible to boot into windows.

In my case the computer is stuck in an infinite automatic repair loop which gets to 41% and restarts the computer automatically. It doesn't say that it can't repair it, it just restarts. There is no option to bypass this offered AT ALL. The only alternative
screen that sometimes comes up (after several hours) is a BSOD with a QR code which quickly disappears as the computer restarts itself and the loop starts again. The computer can enter Setup and that's it.

I have tried:

• Letting it run it's course.
• Removing the hard drive and putting it back in.
• Using the power button to turn the computer on and off.

None of these options work.
