Windows 10: Contrast on monitor screen

I just had two cataract surgeries and the contrast on the monitor, which is not 100%, is giving me headaches. I read guidance online but I can't find the way to lessen it manually. Every couple weeks something pops up on login which gives me an opportunity but I can't find it otherwise. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

To be able to assist you properly, I would like to ask few questions from you, please see below:

1. Are you using laptop or desktop computer?

For desktop computer, you can adjust the contrast by adjusting it directly on the monitor's panel mostly in the bottom or in the side of the screen. In Windows 10, you can turn on also the High Contrast, here's the steps:

1. In windows search, type Turn High contrast on or off and select it.

2. In the High Contrast screen, turn on the slide for the High Contrast and you can choose a theme which suits best for your eyes.

3. Click Apply.

high contrast problem

What type of Monitor are you using ?

As we don`t know i can only offer some suggestions.

• Make sure its set at True Color ( 32 Bit ) in the Control Panels Display settings.

Go to Start Menu.

Type in Display and select it from the drop down.

In the right hand pane select Change Display Settings and open it.

Click the blue link called Advanced settings.

Click the Tab called Monitor to make sure its set to True Color 32 bit.

• Try using the Monitors Function Buttons to change the Brightness and Contrast.

Try between the Natural / Warm @ Cool settings that most Monitors support within their function buttons.

• If using a installed Graphics Card make sure you have the Drivers Installed.

Some Graphics Cards support changing Brightness and Contrast in their Control Panel.

Still, i suggest you do this with the Monitors Function Buttons first to see if this sorts out the issue.

• You could also try the Windows 7 Calibrate Display Color.

Go to Start Menu.

Type in Calibrate display color and open it .

Click the Next Button down in the bottom right hand.

Follow its Instructions through to the end.

Hopefully this helps some what.

Press Start then search High Contrast

Please try to adjust the settings there.

If you're using Nvidia, You can change contrast settings in Nvidia configuration menu

You may also try to check this thread with similar Problem. Solved by Dave. People find this helpful.
