Windows 10: Control Key Functionality - Inactive

I have lost Ctrl key functionality on my laptop while working. Both the keys aren't functioning. There is no physical damage or wear & tear issue. Suddenly it just stopped working while I was live on laptop. How can I fix it ?


In the meantime I have followed below steps.

1. Updated and reinstalled the driver.

2. Restarted the machine.

3. Ran the trouble shooter.

4. Check the properties from command prompt.

• Single Click on the file.
• Tap F2 ( Function Key).
• Then type the name and enter.

Contacts Key Function Inactive: C3-00 model

Hello:



I have just purchased a Nokia C3-00. The left-hand side contacts key function is inactive, however, and I can't get this button to do anything.



When I press the left-hand side Contacts Function key, nothing happens at all. When I go to Menus > Settings > My Shortcuts, I can find information on the "Contacts Key," and it says "Contacts Key Off." When I click the "select" button at this menu to
edit the contacts key, I see a menu for "Contacts Key" and the "off" radio button is clicked. But there is no option for changing this radio button to "on." If I try to click the menu button at this screen, I simply get a message confirming the fact that
the "contacts key function is inactive." I would like the turn on the contacts key. How do I activate/turn on the contacts function key? Thank you.

First, I would suggest you to manually check if these keys are struck or if anything struck in between the keys which could prevent the key from functioning properly. If nothing was found, I would suggest you to open the onscreen keyboard and check if
these keys work. If these work in the onscreen keyboard, then the issue might be caused due to driver or a faulty hardware.

Method 1: Try Hardware and devices troubleshooter

The hardware and devices troubleshooter can detect and fix errors and incorrect settings in devices. You can run the built in troubleshooter in Windows 8 and check by following these steps:

a) Press Windows Key + X, select control panel

b) Change the ‘view by’ option on the top right to ‘Larger icons’

c) Select the Troubleshooting option and click ‘view all’ on the left panel

d) Run the ‘Hardware and devices ‘troubleshooter.

Method 2:
Un-install and re-install keyboard drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:
Step 1: un-install the drivers:
Follow these steps:
a. Press “Windows Key + W” from the keyboard.

b. Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.

c. Right click on the keyboard drivers and select “Uninstall”.

d. Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

Note: Before uninstalling the driver, please make sure that you have downloaded the latest driver for the keyboard device from the manufacturer website.

Step 2:
You can download the latest driver for keyboard from the manufacturer's website.

Method 3:

If the volume controls on your keyboard stops working, check the Human Interface Device Access service on your computer to make sure it is set to Automatic.

1. In the Start menu, type View local services.

2. From the Search Results list, select View local services.

3. In the Services dialog box, locate Human Interface Device Access. Make sure the status is set to “Started.” If it is not started, click Start the service.

4. Right-click Human Interface Device Access and select Properties.

5. On the General tab, in the Startup type, select Automatic, and then click OK.
