Control Key not working on Gateway NV55S Laptop

Neither of the Control Keys on my Gateway NV55S laptop are working. Here is the situation:

    1. The laptop was originally Win7, but I recently upgraded it to Win10 Home version. When it was Win7, it had a strange behavior where Control-C and Control-V would work but would display a moving circle graphic centered on the cursor. It looked like a spiral.

    2. After upgrading to Win10, the Control Keys don't work at all. Neither of them work.

    3. I really doubt it is a hardware problem, as it happened at the same time to both keys--and the right key is rarely used.

    4. The current driver is a PS/2 driver from 2006, but Windows says that the driver is up to date.

    5. I have tried the following:

    - Used an online Keyboard checker -- and neither Control key works

    - Used the Touch Keyboard in Windows -- and Control-C works fine

    - Tried in Console. It doesn't show the ^C -- for Control-C

    - Reinstall driver. Multiple times

    - Reboot in SAFE mode and the problem persists

    - Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys, and Filter Keys are all Disabled

    - I've run the Keyboard Troubleshooter in Windows and it found no issues

    - I've reset my Keyboard settings

    - I've gone into Regedit and changed i8042prt and changed it from "3" to "1"

    - Connected a USB keyboard -- it functions the same as the laptop did under Win7, which means that Control-C works but it shows the weird spiral graphic

    - Gone to manufacturer's website to find a newer driver--but they don't have one

    - I've also done a scan from the console but I can't remember or find the instructions for what i did...

    Any more ideas?

    :)

Control Key not working on Gateway NV55S Laptop

I am on my Sony laptop because The Gateway laptop is acting up

The problem is on a Gateway laptop model NV570P-18U, OS Win 10 Home 64 bit.

I just turned on and booted up the Gateway and I can get to the Win desktop. The Gateway was working 100% fine last night when I did a normal Windows shut down. Now the wireless mouse and the internal touch pad don't work. Only some of the keys on both the wireless keyboard and the internal keyboard work. I can't do a normal shut down and reboot. The only key that works 100% is the power button. I do have 100% control of the Gateway's bios setup from both the internal and the wireless keyboards. So what's up and what's next? Do I have to wipe the partition clean and start over again with a clean install?
BTW I did last night an uninstall of Win 10's photo app because the photo app was forcefully taking control from other imaging prog's.
