Windows 10: Control Monitor Brightness Through Windows?

Kind of a niche issue, but I recently decided to add a portable 13" monitor below my ultrawide to display system monitors and play videos while doing other things on my primary display.

It's worked out really well, but the main issue i've been having is that the 13" monitor resets it's brightness everytime it wakes up. On my Windows laptops i'm able to adjust the monitor brightness straight through Windows, but on my desktop this option isn't shown. Does anyone know if it's possible to re-enable the brightness control? I'm honestly not even sure if it will fix the issue but it's worth a try.

To change your Windows 10 monitor brightness, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Click the Windows logo; then, search for Control Panel.
• Select Hardware and Sound.
• Choose Power Options.
• On the next screen you should see brightness slider at the bottom of the Control Panel window.

To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.

Problems with monitor brightness control

I will surely help you to fix this issue.

This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

• Corrupt or outdated display
  driver.
• Missing Updates.

Try the steps listed here:

Method 1:

I suggest you to download and install all the available Windows update and check if it helps.

Method 2:

I suggest you to uninstall the display driver and re-install the latest version of display driver from the computer manufacturer website. Check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall the sound driver.

a. Press Windows Key + X and then click
Device Manger.

b. Expand ‘Sound Video and Game Controllers”.

c. Right-click on ‘High Definition Audio Device
and select ‘uninstall’.

d. Follow the prompt and restart the computer.



Step 2:

I suggest you to install latest display from computer manufacturer website and check if it helps. If Windows 10 drivers are not available,
I suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

To install the display driver
in compatibility mode, I would suggest you to follow these steps:

a. Download the latest display driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

b. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

c. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

d. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and
select latest Windows version from the drop down list.

e. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
