Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore (Windows 7) > Creat a system...

Over two years ago, someone posted this same issue with the title:

backup and restore (0x807800C5) and (0x8078004F)

The issue was never properly addressed, was never resolved, yet the thread was closed.

I followed all the suggestions in the thread, including performing a clean boot, https://support.logitech.com/en_us/article/228. None of the steps taken made any difference in the ultimate failure condition, "The backup failed. There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5). Additional Information: The mounted backup volume is inaccessible. Please retry the operation. (0x8078004F)."
Then I noticed the Backup section showed "Windows Backup has not been set up." with a "Set up backup" option. I went through this and unchecked everything including the schedule, leaving only the boot volume. When I run this back up procedure. it fails the same way as the system image did. HOWEVER, now when I go back to Create a system image, that process runs for several hours, the green bar almost completes, then FAILURE!!!
This time, the message is "The backup failed. There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5) Additional information: The specificed backup disk cannot be found. (0x80780081). WTF?!!
I have no idea what is going on in these processes, but perhaps by reproducing this sequence, it will allow you to fix this issue once and for all.

    :)

  2. Where can I find this: " Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Backup and Restore."

This is from Article ID 17127

The way I see it, if Microsoft can't even get a simple reference like 1. below correct, it's virtually hopeless.

    "

    Back up
There are several ways to back up your PC.

    • Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Backup and Restore.
    • Do one of the following:
      • If you've never used Windows Backup before, or recently upgraded your version of Windows, select Set up backup, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
      • If you've created a backup before, you can wait for your regularly scheduled backup to occur, or you can manually create a new backup by selecting Back up now.
      • If you’ve created a backup before, but want to make a new, full backup rather than updating the old one, select Create new, full backup, and then follow the steps in the wizard."

A file called "Backup and Restore Windows 7" is listed in my Control Panel. Is it safe to delete this file? If so, how can I safely delete it?

  4. Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore (Windows 7) > Creat a system...

Want to backup my Windows 10 files using an external harddrive & create a system repair/restore disc.

Use file history to backup files on your external drive.Access it from Settings>Update and security>Backup.

Another alternative is to use older backup system from Control Panel.

For a system repair disc, navigate to Control Panel>Backup and restore(Windows 7)>On the left pane click Create a system repair disc.
