Controller/Gamepad input not working as it should

Hi guys, please bare with my explanations as I am really struggling to wrap my head around this issue myself!

So my controller inputs are all wonky, or just plain aren't getting picked up at all on Windows 10. I am using a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for reference, but I also have a PS4 controller that isn't registering any input at all, it seems.

For example, when connecting the controller over bluetooth and USB, it registers the right analog stick as the cursor. It also registers up on the D-pad as a click, and other buttons are all assigned to random things that I can't remember.

I used to connect my PS4 controller via bluetooth with no hitches, and it would only detect input while in games and didn't do any of this. I just want them both to do exactly that, but even my PS4 controller isn't connecting anymore

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've googled high and low for a solution but nothing makes sense. Thank you.

Game controller ID settings

Hi Joe,

Thank you for the update. I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to look for the Devices settings in Control Panel and check if the game controllers are listed. If so, refer to the following steps to alter the settings and check if these are helpful in resolving your issue.

a. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.

b. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically.

c. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller.

If the issue still persists, restart your console and then try to reconnect your controller.

Hello,

I suspect this might be a hardware issue, since your cousin’s gamepad works well on your PC and your gamepad is facing the same issue on your cousin’s PC. So I suggest you to contact the gamepad manufacturer for better assistance.
