  1. Controller will not connect through usb-c cable

I’m attempting to connect my Xbox series S controller to my computer. My computer does not have Bluetooth functionality so pairing it is not an option my controller has worked in the past through usb-c connection but as of today with a controller update through Xbox no longer connects through usb-c and will only attempt to wirelessly pair to my Xbox. I tried multiple cords and 2 controllers but nothing changes instead of connecting to my computer the controller wirelessly connects to my Xbox that it has been paired to

  3. can't connect usb cable

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand you're having trouble connecting your USB cable. Could you please provide more details about the issue? Specifically, it would be helpful to know what device you're trying to connect, and whether you're receiving any error messages.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Try a Different Port: The issue could be with the specific USB port on your computer. Try plugging the USB cable into a different port to see if that resolves the issue.
    2. Check the Cable and Device: The problem could be with the USB cable itself or the device you're trying to connect. Try using a different USB cable, or connect the cable to a different device, to see if the problem persists.
    3. Update Your Drivers: Your computer's drivers might be outdated. To check, type "Device Manager" into the Windows search bar and select it. Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" category, right-click each item under it, and select "Update driver."
    4. Check for Physical Damage: Inspect your USB cable and the USB ports on your computer for any signs of physical damage.
    5. Disable Power Saving: Windows might be turning off your USB controller to save power. To check this, go back to "Device Manager," right-click each item under "Universal Serial Bus controllers," and select "Properties." Go to the "Power Management" tab and uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best regards

Controller will not connect through usb-c cable

DisplayLink Demonstrates USB-C Docking Experience That "Just Works"

I'm glad they finally cleared up that you could use USB 3.1 Type-A connector the same way you could use USB 3.1 Type-C connector. For a while they had me worried I could connect screen only to USB 3.1 Type-C port.

Just when I thought we will have only two connectors (Type-A and Type-C) they brought up Type-B connector. Instead of Type-B they should use Type-A connector which is as robust as Type-B.
Well done, you screwed up again and now we will have 3 USB connectors in the future instead of 2.
